Intro to Core Shamanism

“Over tens of thousands of years, our ancient ancestors all over the world discovered how to maximize human abilities of mind and spirit for healing and problem solving. The remarkable system of methods they have developed is today known as “shamanism, ” a term that comes from a Siberian tribal word for its practitioners: “shaman” (pronounced SHAH-mahn). Shamans are a type of medicine man or woman especially distinguished by the use of journeys to hidden worlds otherwise mainly known through myth, dream and near-death experience.” courtesy Michael Harner, Foundation for Shamanic Studies.

In this class you will receive basic information on core shamanism.  Core shamanism is not culture specific, and Jeanne teaches with the belief and intent that each person needs to find their own shamanic path rather than copying another culture’s way.  In this class you will learn about the core principles of shamanism, you will discover your power animal and learn how to work with it through a guided imagery exercise,  and you will learn the process called “journeying” so you can access spiritual information for yourself and others.  You will also learn about shamanic healing vs western healing perspectives.  And, we will discuss the power of the drum and how it works with you in the journeying process. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a bandana or blindfold with you for journeying.

This class is a pre-requisite for all other shamanic classes with Jeanne, including the Intro to Celtic Shamanism class.
